1. SayPro Define Survey Objectives

  • Determine the purpose of the survey (e.g., evaluate program effectiveness, assess student skills and learning outcomes, gather feedback on teaching methods, etc.).
  • Identify the specific academic and skill-based areas to assess (e.g., understanding of course material, communication skills, engagement, teaching effectiveness, resource adequacy, etc.).

2. SayPro Design the Surveys

  • For Students:
    • Focus on learning outcomes: Have they met the academic objectives? Are they confident in their skills?
    • Questions can include Likert-scale ratings (e.g., “Strongly Agree” to “Strongly Disagree”) for statements like:
      • “The course content was relevant to my career goals.”
      • “I feel confident in applying the skills learned in this program.”
      • “The course structure helped me understand the subject matter.”
    • Include open-ended questions for detailed feedback on specific aspects (e.g., teaching style, course materials, learning environment).
  • SayPro For Instructors:
    • Focus on teaching effectiveness, student engagement, and perceived success of the program.
    • Likert-scale questions like:
      • “The program objectives were clear and achievable for students.”
      • “I was able to effectively engage students in learning activities.”
      • “The resources provided were adequate for teaching.”
    • Open-ended questions can ask instructors to suggest improvements to the curriculum or teaching methods.

3. SayPro Select the Survey Platform

  • Choose a survey tool such as Google Forms, SurveyMonkey, or Qualtrics that allows for easy distribution and data collection.
  • Ensure the platform is accessible to both students and instructors (email, course website, etc.).

4. SayPro Distribute the Surveys

  • Distribute the surveys at an appropriate time during or after the course, when participants can provide informed feedback.
  • Ensure anonymity and confidentiality to encourage honest responses.
  • Provide a reasonable deadline to complete the survey (e.g., one week).

5. SayPro Collect and Analyze Data

  • After the surveys are completed, analyze the results:
    • Look for trends and patterns (e.g., areas where both students and instructors agree on strengths or weaknesses).
    • Evaluate the effectiveness of the program from multiple perspectives (students’ learning outcomes vs. instructors’ teaching effectiveness).
    • Identify areas for improvement based on feedback.

6. SayPro Act on the Feedback

  • Share the results with relevant stakeholders (program coordinators, department heads, instructors) to discuss potential changes.
  • Implement changes based on the feedback (e.g., adjusting teaching methods, improving resources, clarifying objectives, etc.).

7. SayPro Follow-up

  • If needed, conduct a follow-up survey or interviews to see if changes have had the desired impact.
