1. Purpose

The purpose of this procedure is to outline the responsibilities, protocols, and standards for maintaining a safe and healthy working environment for all SayPro Human Capital. It ensures compliance with occupational health and safety legislation and promotes a culture of safety.


2. Scope

This procedure applies to all SayPro premises, activities, programs, and any person engaged under SayPro Human Capital, including staff, contractors, volunteers, and visitors.


3. Definitions

  • OHS: Occupational Health and Safety
  • Hazard: Any source of potential damage, harm, or adverse health effect
  • Risk Assessment: The process of evaluating risks to health and safety
  • Incident: An unplanned event that results in or could result in injury or damage

5.1 Risk Assessment and Hazard Identification

  • Conduct Quarterly regular OHS audits and inspections.
  • Identify and document potential hazards in all workspaces.

5.2 Emergency Preparedness

  • Develop and communicate SayPro evacuation plans.

  • Conduct bi-annual fire and emergency drills.
  • Equip premises with fire extinguishers, first-aid kits, and signage.

5.3 Incident Reporting and Investigation

  • All incidents must be reported using the Incident Report Template within 24 hours.
  • Investigations should be conducted by an assigned Safety Officer.
  • Root cause analysis must be completed and corrective action implemented.

5.4 Health Surveillance and Wellness

  • Encourage regular health screenings and mental wellness support.
  • Provide PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) as required.
  • Promote wellness initiatives and training for all Human Capital.

5.5 Training and Awareness

  • Conduct mandatory OHS training for all new Human Capital during induction.
  • Provide refresher training annually.
  • Display safety policies and procedures clearly at all facilities.
