The Homepage Settings in the Reading Settings section of WordPress allow you to control what visitors see when they land on your website’s homepage. This is especially important when building a static website or a custom landing page, rather than using the default blog-style layout.

📍 How to Access Homepage Settings

  • Go to your WordPress Dashboard.
  • Navigate to Settings > Reading.
  • Your Homepage Displays > A Static Page
  • Homepage > Welcome to SayPro XX
  • Click > Save Changes

🛠️ Homepage Display Options

1. Your homepage displays

You’ll see two main options here:

a) Your latest posts (Default)

  • This is the default WordPress setting.
  • Your homepage will display a list of your most recent blog posts in reverse chronological order.
  • Best for blogs or news sites.

b) A static page

  • Choose this if you want to set a custom page as your homepage (e.g., a landing page or business homepage).
  • When selected, you’ll be able to choose:
    • Homepage: Select which Page (from Pages > All Pages) you want to be your site’s homepage.
    • Posts page: Select a different page to act as the blog posts listing page.

💡 Example setup:

  • Homepage → “Home”
  • Posts page → “Blog”

✅ This is the preferred option for business websites, portfolios, or custom designs that don’t rely on a traditional blog feed.

2. Blog pages show at most

  • Controls how many posts appear per page on your Posts page or blog archive.
  • Default is 10 posts; you can increase or decrease this.

3. Syndication feeds show the most recent

  • Determines how many items appear in RSS feeds.

4. For each post in a feed, include

  • Options:
    • Full text
    • Summary
  • Choose Summary for better load time and to encourage users to click through.

⚠️ Important Notes:

  • To use a static homepage, you must first create the pages:
    • Go to Pages > Add New and create a “Home” and a “Blog” page.
    • Then return to Settings > Reading to assign them.
  • If you’re using a page builder (like Elementor, WPBakery, or Gutenberg), you can design your homepage layout visually and assign it here.

🔄 How to Preview the Change

After saving your homepage settings:

  • Visit your site (yourdomain.com) to see your new homepage.
  • Go to yourdomain.com/blog (or whatever page you set as the posts page) to see your blog post archive.
