Preparation Before Interviews
- Research the Interviewee:
Understand their role, background, and relevance to SayPro projects. - Develop an Interview Guide:
Prepare 8–12 open-ended questions aligned with your interview themes (e.g., education reform, digital economies). - Test Your Equipment:
Ensure your recording device, video conferencing software, and note-taking tools work well.
2. Conducting the Interview
- Start with a Brief Introduction:
Introduce yourself, purpose of the interview, and assure confidentiality if needed. - Get Consent to Record:
Ask permission to record the conversation for accuracy. - Follow the Interview Guide but Stay Flexible:
Let the conversation flow naturally but keep it focused. - Listen Actively and Probe Deeper:
Encourage interviewees to elaborate or clarify points. - Manage Time:
Keep interviews within agreed duration (typically 30-60 minutes).
3. Documenting the Interview
- Take Notes During the Interview:
Capture key points, quotes, and any follow-up questions. - Record and Transcribe:
Use transcription software or manual transcription for accuracy. - Summarize Key Insights:
Write a brief summary highlighting main findings and themes. - Organize Documentation:
Store recordings, transcripts, and notes in a dedicated folder labeled by interviewee and date.
4. Post-Interview Follow-Up
- Send a Thank-You Note:
Appreciate their time and contributions. - Clarify Any Ambiguities:
Follow up with additional questions if needed. - Share Summaries (Optional):
Provide interviewees with a summary to validate accuracy.
