Job Summary
The SayPro Monthly Icon Designer is responsible for the development, refinement, and distribution of high-quality, custom icons that align with SayPro’s visual brand identity. These icons will enhance digital user experiences and support brand communication across platforms. The designer will ensure consistency in style, usability across platforms, and visual harmony with SayPro’s existing brand assets.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks
1. Icon Design
- Develop Custom Icon Sets
Create a unique series of icons that reflect SayPro’s tone, voice, and branding identity. This includes following SayPro’s:- Color palette
- Typography system
- Stroke weight and icon size specifications
- Design language and shape stylization (rounded, angular, minimalist, etc.)
- Ensure Brand Consistency
Every icon designed must be instantly recognizable as part of SayPro’s visual system. Designers must maintain a cohesive look across the icon library and existing brand assets (logos, infographics, UI elements). - Use of Design Tools
Utilize industry-standard tools such as:- Adobe Illustrator (for vector-based design)
- Figma (for collaborative interface design)
- Sketch or similar design platforms
- Design Formats
Export icons in multiple usable formats, including:- SVG (for web)
- PNG (for social media or email use)
- EPS (for print and scalability)
- Font icon sets (optional, for interface design systems)
2. Review and Iteration
- Team Collaboration for Feedback
Present drafts to the SayPro Brand Material Office for initial critique and refinements. Incorporate feedback from:- Marketing leads
- Web designers
- Social media managers
- UI/UX teams
- Iterate Based on Guidelines
Modify and adjust icon sets to better align with internal branding requirements, legibility standards, or specific campaign goals.
3. Integration and Application
- Embed Icons in Digital Assets
Support the implementation of icons across:- SayPro website navigation and interface elements
- Social media content and marketing visuals
- Infographics, brochures, pitch decks, and reports
- Affiliate and partner platforms
- Icon System Design
Create an organized icon system with:- Categorized icons (e.g., education, finance, communication)
- Usage guidelines (how and where icons should be used)
- Visual spacing and alignment rules
4. Quality Assurance and Documentation
- Accessibility and Scalability Testing
Ensure all icons are:- Scalable without distortion or quality loss
- Visually clear and identifiable at small sizes
- Accessible for colorblind users (using contrast and clarity)
- Create an Icon Style Guide
Document the design approach, icon specifications, and usage rules for future design consistency. Include:- Do’s and Don’ts
- Minimum sizes
- Alignment and padding standards
- Color variants (e.g., light mode, dark mode)
5. Distribution and Storage
- Internal Platform Uploads
Upload final icon sets to SayPro’s shared repositories (e.g., Google Drive, Dropbox, internal asset libraries). - Make Icons Accessible to Teams
Ensure all relevant teams (e.g., marketing, content, tech) have access to the icons and understand how to implement them effectively. - Support Distribution on External Platforms
Coordinate with the social media and digital teams to release promotional assets using the new iconography.
Performance Indicators
- Completion of a cohesive icon set aligned with SayPro branding.
- Positive internal feedback on design clarity and usability.
- Successful integration of icons into digital platforms.
- Efficient turnaround of design revisions after internal reviews.
- Proper documentation and ease of use by multiple departments.
Skills & Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree or certification in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or related field.
- Strong portfolio showcasing icon design experience.
- Expertise in Adobe Illustrator, Figma, and other design tools.
- Attention to detail and consistency in design elements.
- Ability to translate complex ideas into simple, symbolic visuals.
Preferred:
- Experience designing icon systems for web or mobile applications.
- Understanding of UI/UX principles.
